Permanent Home at 'Daddy's Place'
storage in a specially made archival box with rules for protection
In order to properly store and protect the newly restored Family Bible, the Condit cousins who have been leading the Bible restoration project have proposed that the Bible be:
stored at the family community building, Daddy's Place, in Woodland Junction; a stable temperature and humidity are already, typically, maintained for a piano in the building
preserved / stored in a specially made archival box lined with unbuffered tissue paper
touched ONLY after the handler has washed and dried their hands thoroughly to prevent the transfer of oils from skin onto the Bible
stored separately from any loose items or newspaper clippings that were kept previously with the Bible; these items will also be archived but in separate boxes
packaged so that pages with written notes are interleaved with tissue or bond paper to prevent the handwriting from bleeding to the opposite page
Family birth, death and marriage records will be scanned and copies made available for easier access and anytime availability.
For more information about the storage plan and access to the Bible for special occassions, contact Marian "Sis" Henson.
Ultimately, the goal is to take the time to make sure we’ve done everything in our power to preserve this piece of family history - and our investment in its preservation - for future generations.
